Smokey Yunick’s 67 Chevelle

I love all the old-school stories about Smokey during his heyday in NASCAR. From his questionable interpretations of the rulebook (acid dipped chassis & thinner windows to reduce weight, 2” fuel line for more capacity) to his illegal modifications which include but are not limited to, filling the chassis with sand so it would meet tech requirements while installing a plug that could be pulled to slowly release the sand during racing, inflating a basketball inside the fuel tank for it to pass tech then deflating it for more fuel capacity, sectioning body panels for in the name of aerodynamic efficiency while still remaining a stock enough profile to match the NASCAR templates, wooden rollcages, and more…

He also developed a lot of technology that is used on racing cars the world over, air jacks, nitrous systems, spoilers, and others.

May he rest in peace.
